Baselworld 2015 brought many gorgeous additions to the world of luxury timepieces, but none even came close to the opulence of Chanel’s new Les Éternelles watch collection for women. Blurring the fine line between jewelry and a time-telling device, the 18-karat white gold diamond-encrusted watches honor the camellia, the favorite flower of Coco Chanel, as well as comets and feathers, all frequent motifs for the French house. The face of the watch is covered by diamonds, but the dial is revealed by swiping the cover horizontally. Four hundreds hours go into the making of The Camellia, Comet, and Plume Secret Watches, all of them done in-house at Chanel’s atelier on the Place Vendôme in Paris.
